Hi, I'm Tom. I like to travel.
I’ve been wanting to make this blog for 10 years
And now I’m finally doing it. Now that AI is making SEO increasingly irrelevant and blogs are being drowned out by an ever-deepening sea of generated slop. Great timing, right?
But maybe that’s also what makes it the perfect time to start a blog. I think people are craving authenticity more than ever… and that’s what I’m aiming for. My stories and experiences may be sloppy at times– but they’re real… and they’re lived-in… and most importantly, they’re human.
AI can do a lot of things. But it can’t get blackout in Tokyo or get robbed in Spain. It never had to hike 168 steps to an AirBNB in Amalfi, or drive the narrow country roads in Ireland.
These are my human tales. I’m still making new ones (with my beautiful partner, Olivia), and I’m having a lot of fun telling the old ones too.
A little more about me
As the title says, I’m Tom.
I caught the travel bug early-on. After I graduated college, I hopped pretty quickly into the corporate world… and I hated it. That’s what my life was going to be? Fluerescent lights and pizza Fridays? No thank you.
So, I developed a remote career as a freelance designer (before COVID made everyone remote). From there I started traveling. Japan, Spain, France, Turkey… the list goes on.
Years later, I met the beautiful Olivia, and now we travel together (#couplegoals).
We’ve lived a bunch of different places– Savannah, Germany, Ireland, Boston, Portland (Maine), Mexico… and we’re just getting started. Next is Morocco (we think), so join the newsletter to keep up-to-date with our adventures and tom-foolery.
